Police Log: Stolen Bikes and Failure to Stop

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the  log from to Wednesday, Friday, May 18 to Sunday, May 20.

Friday, May 18

9:36 a.m.: On Castle Drive, a driver reported that debris in the roadway flattened two of her tires. They were unable to find any debris in the roadway, and AAA responded to the scene to fix the vehicle.

10:42 a.m.: A Main Street caller reported his son's red BMX bike was stolen sometime the previous night between 5-9 p.m.

12:22 p.m.: An unlocked vehicle was entered during the night on Middlesex Avenue and numerous tools and a GPS unit were taken.

2:38 p.m.: On Chestnut Street, a resident reported that youths broke eggs inside of his mailbox, ruining the mail inside. Officers found no mail was damaged. Both people had something in their mailbox, and each assumed it was the other involved party, which was not the case. Police checked other mailboxes in the area.

5 p.m.: Multiple calls received reporting that two pick-up trucks were racing up and down Cunningham Street. Officers got behind the vehicles, but they did not stop. Police pulled over the blue pick up truck on Cunningham Street, but the operator ran into the back door of the home. Joseph Landry, 44, of 18 Cunningham St., Wilmington, was arrested for failing to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding.

7:06 p.m. A driver on Main Street was cited for a rejected inspection sticker. The vehicle was searched for and a small amount of Class D was confiscated for destruction.

Saturday, May 19

9:07 a.m.: According to a Malloy Road caller, sometime during the night someone threw a container of yogurt at his house. Officers responded to the home and said it may have been done by kids in the neighborhood.

10:48 a.m.: A walk-in party reported a threatening message was left on property.

6:14 p.m.: Police took a report of a stolen bicycle from Market Basket on Main Street. The caller reported his son's bike was taken sometime between 3-4:30 p.m. and described it as a white and orange bicycle with white rims.

6:35 p.m.: An Aldrich Road caller reported he was assaulted. The person was intoxicated and dropped off a friend before his father picked him up.

Sunday, May 20

1:03 a.m.: A Butters Row caller reported that five to 10 minutes ago someone rang her doorbell and when she came to answer no one was there, and a crosswalk sign was at her doorstep. Police took the florescent "Yield to Pedestrians" sign and returned it to the station.

4:27 a.m.: The attendant of the Shell Station found a small bad with a white powdery substance in the parking lot. Officers picked up the item for destruction.

9:14 a.m.: Police responded to Birchwood Road for a well-being check of the resident due to a text message he sent to his ex-wife. The man was summonsed for violating an abuse prevention order.

10:01 a.m.: Police attempted to locate Jonathan Benoit for Salem, N.H., officers who . Wilmington police spoke to his mother who stated she has minimal contact with him and he is not welcome at the house.
