Police Log: Nursing Home Theft and a Coyote Spotting

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, June 16

An item was kept at the station until the responsible party came to the station to collect it around 8 a.m., at which time she checked to make sure everything else appeared to be normal. Everything at the snack shack was in order.

8:13 a.m.: A Woburn Street caller reported that a dog was struck by a car and appeared to be deceased. The vehicle involved left the area. Police contacted the dog's owner, who came outside to take care of the dog.

12:37 p.m.: Four syringes were found in the road on High Street and brought back to the station for destruction.

2:45 p.m.: A caller reported vehicles disobeying the road closed sign and traveling down Lake Street. The cones were knocked down in the area and detail officers put them back in place.

Sunday, June 17

2:21 a.m.: In the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, a male and female were involved in an argument, but fled when the cruiser approached. Peace was restored and both were sent on their way. The male was issued a citation for having an open container in a motor vehicle.

12:42 p.m.: A Federal Street caller reported five marks on the passenger side of his vehicle that could have been caused by BB guns. The man said the incident happened sometime in the past week.

Four more syringes found on the road, but, "Wilmington doesn't have a drug problem".

Underage teens with alcohol in their vehicle. No punishment issued-something is wrong here. No wonder half the high school drinks and does drugs

Interesting State Police handled the underage drinking. We all know there are drug problems everywhere.

Just because the needles are in Wilmington does not mean a Wilmington resident put them there. Could have been anyone driving by and throwing them out the window.

daj, not enough information was provided to assume that the kids were not punished. It says WPD were called in. I can't imagine they were just sent home with Mom and Dad. Transporting alcohol as a minor is serious!

The story that is most troubling to me is some Low Life went into a Nursing home and stole from a resident there. Im sorry there is a special place in hell for those who injure the helpless, and Children
