Syringe behind the North Intermediate school. Someone should post a drug free school zone sign at the entrance of the woods on both sides where kids cut through & next to where the needle was found.

Yes, Townie, a sign. Penalties are increased if not doubled in designated & marked areas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug-free_school_zone
I didn't say it would eliminate the problem but it should serve as more of a deterrent. What do you propose as a solution?

Hey Townie, I agree with Natalie. I'm sure if we put up a no shooting up in this area sign, the kids will read it and not do it.

School zone penalties are all well and good. A sign can be assigned to the redundancy dept dept.
We need to support increased drug paraphenila penalties as well as more penalties for simply being impaired in public. When they find no actual drugs, but do have someone cranked out with a spoon and a needle they have very little power as far as charges go.
I would love to see kids charged with these crimes put out in the community picking trash and washing cop cars. The little angels would be oh so upset about it.

A sign will do nothing to stop people from shooting up.

These are fairly young people that are heroin users. You do not see many old ones because they do not get old, they die!
I hope parents wise up eventually and start going through the kids computers and phones etc... They are starting with much less addictive stuff first, that is the time you can save them.
I pray for these young people. They need a chance to enjoy life.

Way to go Townie! You just solved the drug problem! No one will ever use drugs again if they fear they will have to pick up trash or wash cars.

I think Townie has a great idea! Maybe it won't stop existing addicts from using, but it sure will make kids think twice about going down that road.

There is no one solution. Admitting we have a drug problem is the first step to solving the problem.
Someone had mentioned in a drug bust comment a few weeks ago to create neighborhood watch teams. Can't hurt, might help?!?

Townie, that's not totally accurate. I wouldn't refer to Keith Richards as fairly young.
