You’ve likely seen members of the Wilmington Police Department in town doing their duty as officers, but you probably have not seen them the way you will today at Silver Lake – firing up the grill and flipping burgers.
Some Wilmington’s finest will be preparing and serving a barbecue lunch at Town Beach as part of Police Beach Day. Sponsored by the Wilmington Police Association and the Wilmington Recreation Department, the soiree runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Guests to the beach will find various activities on the shoreline, including sand castle contests and beach volleyball, among other activities. Lifeguards will be on duty and staff from the Rec. Department’s Playground Program will be supervise children on land.
