Pet Food Recall Impacts Products At Area Pet Supply Stores
Several brand names impacted by recall.
(Editor's note: In the original story, Pets Plus was also listed as selling the brands of pet food recalled. This information was found on the Pets Plus web site. However, Matt Connors, owner of Pets Plus, indicates his web site is outdated and that they have not carried the brands listed for two years.)
A voluntarily recall by a national pet food company impacts products being sold an area pet supply store.
Natura Pet announced this week it was recalling certain California Natural, Innova, EVO and Healthwise dry dog, cat and ferret SKUs as a "precautionary measure due to potential Salmonella contamination."
Those brand name food products are sold at The Barkery, 553 Main St., Tewksbury.
The products being recalled are NOT being sold at The Wilmington Pet Shop. 911 Main St., Wilmington.
In a letter sent out to its retail outlets, Natura Pet officials said they had been alerted to a confirmed presence of Salmonella in a 2.2lb package of EVO Turkey & Chicken Cat Food.
"We are taking the precautionary measure to voluntarily recall the entire production window that was produced from December 17-January 2. We believe this action is consistent with our ongoing commitment to product quality and animal and human safety," the notice read, in part.
A complete list of the specific products with names, UPC codes and lot numbers can be found attached to this article in a PDF file.
The Barkery notified its customers via e-mails and a notice on its Facebook Page Tuesday.
"If you have purchased this food from us, please check your email and read the email concerning which products/skus have been affected. The email that we are sending out only contains the skus that we sell at The Barkery," the notice read, in part.
