Patriots Award Local Heroes With Grand Prize [VIDEO]
Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Robert Kraft were among New England Patriots who awarded Wilmington non-profit a check for $25,000 during Wednesday luncheon.
Lou Cimaglia would have been happy leaving Gillette Stadium as a third place winner during the Myra Kraft Community MVP awards luncheon. But meeting Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, being awarded the grand prize, and taking home $25,000 for Local Heroes wasn't a bad way to end the day either.
The Wilmington Veteran's Agent was awarded for his work as founder of Local Heroes on Wednesday as he topped 300 applicants and 15 other finalists in the annual award given out by the New England Patriots.
Joshua Kraft, son of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, read off the names of the other finalists one at at time.
At first, 10 third place winners were recognized and given $2,500. Cimaglia's name wasn't called. Then one at a time, the second place winners were recognized and given $10,000 each. Once again, no sign of Cimaglia's name.
Finally, there were no other organizations left except the Wilmington non-profit's, and Cimaglia took the memorable trip up to the stage to shake the hands of punter Zoltan Mesko and Patriot great Andre Tippett before exchanging a high five with Robert Kraft.
"We made Wilmington proud once again," said Cimaglia.

Matt, is it true that Local Heroes is making this $25,000 available for scholarships for the students that have been volunteering there?

No, Kevin. From what I understand that is not accurate. During his interview following the awards ceremony, Lou Cimaglia spoke to me about the group and said Local Heroes has spent about the $80,000 over the last two years in postage alone, an average of about $800-$1,100 per week. "It'll last, and it'll all go to good use," said Cimaglia. "The money will go to good use in supporting the troops." If you have any other questions about the plans for the money, I would suggest speaking with Lou yourself.

MacDonald I always knew you had some screws loose but I didn't know you were such a bitter, nasty jerk. You are insinuating here that people associated with Local Heroes are going to use this award money for their own benefit. Who exactly are you referring to? Give me a name. Gee I wonder. Have you no shame? Attacking a fellow who gives of his time to bring cheer to soldiers laboring for our country in war zones, and has now won recognition for both his worthy organization and our town? You are a sick puppy and anyone who associates with you should be ashamed. Including the poor woman who supports you.
Every year they give an award to Wilmington's "Good Guy." You are the runaway winner for Wilmington's "Bad Guy."

Lookit here son, I say son, did ya see that hawk after those hens? He scared 'em! That Rhode Island Red turned white. Then blue. Rhode Island. Red, white, and blue. That's a joke, son. A flag waver. You're built too low. The fast ones go over your head. Ya got a hole in your glove. I keep pitchin' 'em and you keep missin' 'em. Ya gotta keep your eye on the ball. Eye. Ball. I almost had a gag, son. Joke, that is.

Nice answer Matt! He was probably wondering if he might be eligible for one of the scholarships to upgrade from his tax free 4 x 4 bedroom in his Mama's basement! .

I continue to scratch my head trying to figure out where Mr. MacDonald comes up with this stuff. Especially taking shots at someone who has done (and continues to do) something to make this town very proud. It's a shame that Mr. MacDonald can not direct his thinking more constructively because he could probably do some good with his passion and energy. Your comment about a 4x4 bedroom implies that his room is square. I'm thinking that after this shot at Mr. Cimaglia a round room might be more beneficial.

Local Heroes has never given away scholaships to my knowledge, and why would they? Most people who are new to voluenteer there do it because they have to, because they did something dumb. Kevin, (why does everyone call him Mr. Macdonald?) since you always "do your homework," looks like your cat ate your homework this time bub. You literally make people extremely angry, ya big goof.

Hey Big Dog mess, They "have" to be there? To volunteer or "voluenteer"? It sounds like you are an authority on goofs. Maybe next year Bob Kraft will award you the hurtin' puppy of the year!

Big Dog Mess? Im the authority on goofs? I think you missed just about everyone on here and in Wilmington knows that you are a dope. And yes, other then the people who go to Local Heroes regularly, most of the new volunteers need community service. You don't need to comment twice to get your little points across, we all know you are dumb the first time so it's ok
