OP/ED: Despite Past, Marchese Happy With Miceli Re-Election
Send your letters to the editor to matthew.schooley@patch.com.
Dear Editor,
This past election cycle has been quite the whirlwind and very exhausting on all of us with all of the TV ads, mailers and telephone calls. I am quite happy with two things, first and foremost it’s all over (at least for two more years) and second that Representative James Miceli was re-elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
I know this may be a “what did he just say” moment, as Representative Miceli and I had a very well spirited campaign two years ago. However, truth be told and all politics aside, Representative Miceli does do a great job for his constituents. Just recently a good friend of mine (and a very big supporter of my campaign) was going thru some tough times and reached out to Representative Miceli for help. It didn’t matter who my friend was or who he supported in the past, Representative Miceli and his staff looked past all that and did what they could to help. This caused me to pause a moment to understand what kind of a person Representative Miceli really is and all that he has done for our community. Just today (the day of this letter) I called Representative Miceli at home at 7:35 in the morning, (yes he really does answer his phone at home) and personally thanked him for what he did to help my friend and his family. I congratulated Representative Miceli on his re-election and wished him good health and all the best in the future.
To that end, on our journey thru life, sometimes our compass may not point due North and we drift off course and head thru some rough seas, but as long as we remember that old saying, “second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning,” we will all find our way home.
Regards,
Mario Marchese

Wow,
If hypocrisy and sucking up were Olympic events, Mario would have won two gold medals for this story.

George and Wayne,
Lets be honest, no matter what I had to say regarding Rep Miceli, both of you would have a comment against me either way. I get it you don't like me, and trust me George I don't like you either. Wayne, I have no idea who you are and you obviously do not know me personally, so to continue to attack me behind a user name really does not mean much to me. I do mean what I said about Rep Miceli he and I are both bigger men and can get past what has happened in the past. Apparently George and Wayne both still have some growing up to do.

Mario thanks for the update. Just so you know I am not hiding behind a user name as this is my name. I know very basic and logical which must be why you are having a hard time with it. As I said to you in a prior comment back some time ago is that we have met. I must have really made an impression on you or it's just you don't pay much attention. Glad you consider yourself to be a bigger man as it's always good for self esteem and self confidence. Good luck to you young man.

Mr. Marchese I for one am glad that your friend got the help he needed by contacting Rep. Jim Miceli's office.
You are right Mr Miceli doesn’t care who you are, all he knows is that you have come to him for help and he will attempt to help you any way he can. This is called
constituent services which Rep. Miceli takes a lot of pride in. He is known through out the State House as one of if not the best in helping out people. We should all learn a lesson from Rep. Miceli in the way he responds to helping people who from time to time need help. Rep. Miceli is our Representative 24/7 365 days a year. I for one am glad that an opponent see the good in a person.

Mario,
Well Done on your comments, Jim Miceli. Looks beyond Party to the person who needs help. I am Very familiar with this case as you well know and with all His work for these people I found that this was the rule for Jim Not the exception. So thank you for your letter it was refreshing. After this last election cycle it is good to see that at least in Wilmington Political fighting has stopped and people can and do judge people by their actions not by their political affiliation. Thanks Mario

Lennie,
I can understand your coming to the defense of your friend Mario. However, please explain to me why both you and Mario are not being hypocritical in your current support of Jim Miceli in the context of Mario's self serving OP/ED story? During Mario's very nasty campaign for State Rep two years ago, I made the same case for Jim Miceli and his office that you are making now (Jim's office has also helped me and my family, not to mention having been a family friend for about 50 years!). Several of the republican supporters of Mario's campaign made verbal threats against me and my family for my support of Jim two years ago. What was different then?

No George I supported Jim Miceli Because I am the Person whos Wife he helped in her fight agaisnt cancer, and whos Family he shared their sorrow with when she passed away in September all the while knowing that I was an ardent republican. So if you have a problem with that Sir then deal with it. People who threaten other people for what ever reason are stupid I dont need to lower my self to threats never have

I am sorry for your loss,Lennie. I took care of my mother when she died from cancer when I was 22 years old. It was not a pleasant experience. I believe your apparent anger against me and perhaps your support for your friend Mario in this instance are misplaced. As I said in my previous post, I agree with your current support for Jim Miceli. I have no problem with that and did not say that I did (other than the hypocritical aspect in regard to Mario's self serving OP/ED story). However, you did not fully answer my question. Why was my support for Jim two years ago different than your support now? Why is Mario's current revelation “refreshing,” when my previous support warranted verbal threats against me and my family by your friend Mario and his republican supporters during that exceptionally nasty campaign? Again, what was different then?
