Frozen Yogurt Grand Opening Delayed

Originally scheduled to open on Saturday, Fro-Yo to Go will now likely open next weekend.

Wilmington will have its new self-serve frozen yogurt shop. It just won't be this weekend.

The grand opening of Fro-Yo to Go was slated for Saturday morning, but owner Mary Buscone said the business will have to wait to open its doors likely for one more week as the Health Inspector must first sign off on the property.

Buscone, who teamed up with business partner Tracy Botelho to plan the store, said Fro-Yo to Go will most likely reschedule its grand opening for Saturday, August 18. The schedule has not yet been finalized.

Fro-Yo to Go will provide the town with its first self-serve style frozen yogurt shop, a concept that has grown in popularity. News of the store opening in town has had residents buzzing, many who said they're excited to have a different style of business in Wilmington.

In addition, Buscone told Patch in July that she hired Wilmington construction crews and planned to hire local employees for the store in an effort to give back to her community.

“I want it to be a completely community friendly place where we’ll do fundraisers and other things for different groups,” said Buscone at the time. “I’ve been in town for 25 years and the people have been very good to me in many different ways. So I wanted to give back in that way. I opted to stay with local construction crews because I wanted to give them jobs, especially in the economy we have now.”
