Each week, Wilmington Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose Emma Ceres, a Wilmington Middle School student who has proven to be an outstanding member of Students Against Destructive Decisions.
- Emma Ceres, age 14
- Wilmington Middle School, eighth grade
- Emma has been an integral part of the new SADD Club at WMS. Her integrity, her commitment and her positive attitude make her a role model for staff and students.
- According to Christine McMeniman, who nominated Ceres, the eighth-grader takes her studies and community to heart. "Her character has been an attribute that has served her well through her three years here at the middle school," said McMeniman. "She is respected by her peers and her teachers... Her perseverance and her classy style make her mature beyond her years. She welcomes new students to the school with open arms, and she shines by taking on many responsibilities in SADD. Her contributions have been noticed by Sara Callings, SADD Advisor, and by the school administration. She will move on to the high school next year and will no doubt lead by example."
