Burlington Ave. Apartments Coming Closer to Fruition [VIDEO]
According to the developers for Wilmington's newest apartment buildings, the project is right on track for its scheduled opening.
When designers for Wilmington's newest apartment complex met with selectmen last winter, they said their company prides itself on delivering projects on time. One year later, they're on pace to keep that promise.
Designers for METRO @ Wilmington Station said they expect to be completed construction by late spring or early summer, just over a year after the group purchased the property.
Construction crews have finished 60 percent of the facility, with framework in place for all of the rooms and the nearby garages. Work has already begun on the outside of the buildings as well.
“It’s crazy to look back in that we purchased the land less than a year ago, and we’re already walking through a project that’s more than 60 percent complete,” said Matt Mittelstadt, Managing Director at EA Fish Development. “You can’t do that unless you’re working in a real team approach.”
Upon completion, METRO @ Wilmington Station will feature 78 apartments priced at market value along with 30 moderate affordable income rentals, totaling 108 apartments. There are also 35 garage units on the property.
Middelstadt said it’s too early to estimate exactly what the rent will be on the apartments, which are built with either one or two bedrooms, because the market could change before they open. But he did say he expects prices to be right in line with similar rentals in the area.
Dana Angelo, Director at EA Fish Development, said he and his crews have been excited by the response to the project by area residents.
“We’ve seen a great deal of excitement and interest in what we’re doing here,” said Angelo.
Residents will have the chance to see the apartments first hand in March. Middelstadt said a model unit will be open to the public for possible tenants to walk through and see for themselves where they could be living.
What Middelstadt and Angelo said sets the apartment complex apart from others in town is its proximity to Wilmington’s business community. Located at 10 Burlington Ave. at the corner of Main Street, the apartments will be just a one minute drive to restaurants and stores in town.
In addition, there will be a sidewalk that goes from the property directly to the nearby MBTA station, a walk of just one or two minutes. For more information on the apartment complex, visit www.metro-wilmington.com.
Angelo said his team remains excited as construction rolls along, and he also praised the work of town officials who worked with the group from the time they purchased the land until now.
“This really has been a team approach, and that approach includes the Town of Wilmington,” said Angelo. “Without all members of that team working together, we wouldn’t be able to achieve what we’re achieving today. And that will continue all the way until we open. We are lucky to be working with a great group of people.”
