Best of Patch: Place to Grab a Sandwich in Wilmington

It's a new week in Wilmington, and we're asking you to share your favorite place to get a sandwich in town.

Whether it's a quick sub from Subway, a classic roast beef sandwich from Simard's or a burger from Rocco's, Wilmington has no shortage of places to get a good sandwich in town.

Our inaugural Best of Patch contest kicks off this week with a good sandwich on mind.

Here are some of our favorite places, but if we're leaving one off of the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it:

Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments in the section below. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

So tell us what your favorite place is to eat that great sandwich! And don't forget to tell us in the comments below why you think it's the best place in town.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. A winner will be determined by Patch editors, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

AJ's Kitchen gets my vote. Not only do they make delicious sandwiches, calzones, pasta, and pizza but they are so generous and give south to the Wilmington community.

Thanks for your feedback, Carolyn! Certainly a great choice, and they're off to the early lead. It's going to be an interesting week of voting with so many great choices in town!

Stop & Go gets my vote... Owned and operated by Cindy Meehan. She is a lifelong resident of Wilmington. Good food, Great service, & Familiar faces. My fav is the homemade potato salad. If you don't see something on the menu... She'll whip you up whatever you fancy :)

How about Uptown Deli/Pizza Mia or Lucci's Deli? Both great places to get a sandwich in Wilmington.

Hi, I think you should add Greg's Roast Beef & Seafood as well. Great food, they deliver & are always giving back to the community too.

They've got a few votes so far. What's the best sandwich at Santa Maria, Joe?

Matt, this would make a great list for Four Square!

Who is the lunatic that picked Big Joe's? That place should've been shut down years ago. Gross.

Let's try and keep things friendly, Steve! Take a walk to the bright side. Who would you choose as the best and why?

That was friendly. I meant it in a very loving way. I haven't had a good sandwich in Wilmington since the Farmer and the Del closed long ago. I give them my vote.

Just a reminder to everyone: Please vote just once for your favorite restaurant. The poll isn't the only factor in deciding who takes this week's Best Of, so no need to stuff the ballot box! We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm, and hope the feedback keeps coming. Be sure to voice your reasoning for your pick in the comments section as well!

Sounds like someone is a little jealous of Aj's success... Thinking someone is cheating because they have the majority of the votes is crazy! Probably because they are hands down the best in Wilmington by far!

i know I'm supposed to give my vote on one of my fav's in town but i had to give props to two...AJ's is awesome! My husband and I love their food. Their braided rolls are made fresh daily and it doesn't stop there, the food is delish and portions are hearty!
Peter's Roast Beef (in the Foccacia's Plaza) is awesome too! Enormous Calzones are to die for and the staff is superb! Wicked friendly!!

My vote goes to AJ's! I used to like going to Stop & Go after my father introduced me to it but since AJ's has been in town they are the only place I will go. How can you beat fresh made bread and subs packed full of delicious ingredients? You can't! After all, they are Phantom Gourmet approved for a reason.

we have done alot of traveling, and still our favorite spot would be "as good as it gets". Food is awesome, but one of the only spots (of any kind)..that make you feel as though you still belong to a small town. When we absolutely have to leave the Berkshires...it is a must stop!

This is a terrible poll. There are simply too many great places to eat in town to list just one.

I have great comments on at least a half dozen great eateries, but gave Big Joe the vote, not just because of the great sandwiches he makes, as the food is great, but you get so much more than just something to eat when you go in there. It is kind of like dinner and a show. Okay, lunch and a show.
