Obituary: Walsh, Francis E. "Frank," US Navy Veteran

Frank was born in Worcester on August 14, 1930, to the late Leo and Margaret (Harkins) Walsh. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. He enlisted into the United States Navy on July 6, 1951 and served his country proudly and honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on June 21, 1955 with the rank of Apprentice Mate First Class. Frank worked for more than 24 years as a Car House Repairman for the M.B.T.A. He is a retired member of the M.B.T.A. Carmen's Union Local # 589.

Frank is the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Broussard) Walsh. He is the devoted father of Richard F. Walsh and his wife Catherine of Wilmington and the late Michael Walsh. He is the loving Grampy to Katlyn Walsh and her fiance Kyle LePage, Erin Walsh and Patrick Walsh. He is the beloved brother of Margaret "Peggy" Murray of Marshfield, Leo Walsh of Billerica, John Walsh of Billerica, Joseph Walsh of Medford, Paul Walsh of Randolph and the late Robert "Bibsy" Walsh. He is the brother-in-law of Lorraine McGonagle of Sandwich.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's Funeral on Wednesday, March 21, 9 a.m., from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his funeral Mass, St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown, 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Frank's name to St. Francis De Sales Church Building Fund, 303 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, Mass. 02129.
