Mr. Wandell was the son of the late John W. "Jack" and Charlotte M. (Clague) Wandell and the husband of the late Catherine E. "Betty" (Hennessy) Wandell. He was the father of Kim McDonough-Gawron and her husband Chris of Hollis, Maine, Daniel C. Wandell Jr. of Wilmington, Joan Wandell of Lowell, Susan Landry and her husband William of Billerica, Nancy Brothers and her husband Patrick of Tewksbury, Kathy Mireault and her husband Erik of Lowell, and Michael Wandell and his wife Bridget of Dracut. He leaves his grandchildren; Erin, Patrick, Jack, Kevin, Meaghan, Allyson, Curt, Victoria, Danielle, Danny, Keith, Brandon, Billy, Sean, Tommy, Patrick, Kiley, Megan, Mikey, Kaleigh and his great-grandchildren; Devin, Cori, Cayden, Bryelle, and Colin. He is also survived by his sister Josephine "Sis" Bell of South Carolina and his brother John W. "Jack" Wandell, Jr. of Connecticut; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10 a.m.

Interment at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday, Dec. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.
